To Pay or Not to Pay for Advertising

Hello There,
When you are looking for the best way to market your home business there are tons of possibilities, but some may end up costing you more than others. Whether you want to market yourself through the internet or through the mailbox there are certainly some methods of marketing that will be more cost-effective.
If you have just begun your home business it probably isn’t reasonable to expect to advertise yourself on a local billboard. However, it is much more reasonable to post an advertisement in a local newspaper or church bulletin. Or you could print fliers or postcards at home. You could also post links to your website on certain forums online.
The only way you will really find free advertising is through word-of-mouth and some online posts. Every other form of marketing has small costs that must be allowed for. To print fliers you must purchase the paper and printer cartridges. To send postcards you must purchase the cards first and then pay for shipping. To post an ad in a newspaper or bulletin you much pay for the ad space. Even online, some sites will charge you to post your ad.
Depending on how much you are willing to pay for advertising, your sources for marketing may be limited. However, it is important to try multiple methods of advertising before deciding on the first one that shows a return. Most importantly is to remember that if the return you are earning from an ad is not enough to pay for the cost of the ad itself, it isn’t worthwhile. One way to determine whether or not one of your methods of marketing is profitable is to survey your customers. When they go to make their purchase, simply ask how they heard about you.
Once you have taken a survey of your customers it will be much easier to see which marketing solutions are showing the highest return. You can save yourself some money by cutting down on the advertisements that are not showing such a high return. The money you are saving can then be reallocated to marketing strategies that you know are working well.
It will take some time to find the best marketing solution for your home business. Ultimately the best return may come from a combination of methods, so it is very important never to limit yourself to a single avenue for advertisement. The best solution will be the one that that brings in the most revenue at the lowest cost to you. To get an idea of which advertisements are helping you the most, take a poll from your customers of how they found you. This will really show you how to manage your advertisement costs.

Advertising Your Home Based Business

Hi there,
Having a home based business has many ups and downs to it. The last thing you want to worry about while trying to figure everything else out is whether or not your home based business is getting enough advertising to make a profit.
When it comes to advertising there are several different ways you can do this and some may even work better than others but you want to be sure to reach as many audiences as you can in order to provide yourself the best outcome. In this article I will provide a few different ways you can advertise your business and hopefully one, if not more, will work for you.
Newspaper Advertisement
We all have seen how powerful the newspapers are. They cover all the news, good and bad, show job listings, and even advertise businesses. Though this can be quite costly, depending on how big you want the ad to be and how long you want it to run, it is still one of today’s best methods in getting the word out there about you, your business and what you can do for the public.
Television Advertisement
This is yet another expensive, yet effective, way to get the word out. Most people in America own a television, or at the very least can find a way to view one. You know as well as I do that when you are right in the middle of the best part of your favourite show, there comes a commercial break. Commercials are where people who run businesses or offer some sort of service tell about their product(s) and try to get you to buy from them or use their services instead of someone else’s. Why not put your service out there for the public to see and decide if it is something they want or need. You might be surprised how many actually watch the commercials.
Internet Advertisement
This seems to be one of the best and most inexpensive way to get the word out about your business and the product or service you offer. The best part about it is that you can set up your company’s own website and put whatever it is that you think will help your company. Be sure when doing this though that you keep the information on your company’s website up to date with current information. Example: If you are having a sale but it ends in a week, put the information on there about the sale, but go back in a week and take the info off. You don’t want to advertise something that is not happening as you would have to honour that and may end up losing money in the end.

A New Business Taking Care Of Business
December 12, 2007

http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Good day,
Every business needs business cards, whether they want them or not, they are almost a necessity for everyone hoping to attract new business. While there are many online companies that offer business cards cheap, or free, they may not provide the message the customer hopes to convey. Additionally, many of the free cards include your information on one side and a pitch for the company that provided the free cards on the other side.
With inexpensive software available, in a few hours time, you can be adept at creating quality looking business cards for any type of business. Working with a local printer, you can offer to create business cards for business owners and even arrange to have them printed for them. This reduces the amount of down time they would have to spend in going to the printer, designing the cards and then picking them up when they are done. Saving them time is the same as saving them money and they are usually willing to share that savings.
Here’s thought to seriously consider. The last time you replaced your old cell phone, how long did it take to transfer all the contact phone numbers? As a business owner do you have the time to sort through all the numbers in your phone and enter them into the new one? Probably not. Even if you get started, there will come a time when you just quit and leave out many numbers that you really should have entered.
Offering your services to do this mundane task may be welcome business opportunity not specific to businesses. Individuals may also be more willing to pay to have their phone numbers transferred than take the time to do it themselves. This type of service may also be used for transferring information for personal data systems or even teaching people how to use their new unit.
While transferring pictures to videotape businesses have been around for years, new business also offer taking all those old videotapes and putting them digital video disks to play back through your DVD player. Some even offer to add music to back them up and some editing may also be offered.
With the proliferation of digital media, very few people listen to cassette tapes anymore and many new cars lack cassette players. There is need for businesses that can transfer music from cassettes or even the old eight-track players onto CDs. This gives the music lover their old music without having to buy all new CDs. For the really old music, with the right equipment you can transfer music from the old vinyl records onto compact disks, which can be played the car. It is tough enough to find a record player anymore, but CD players are everywhere.

A Look at the Business of Kids
December 12, 2007
Copyright © Christopher Baxter
http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hi there,
There are few areas of modern business growing as rapidly and successfully as that of franchising. It is a great way for young entrepreneurs to get their foot into the business world. Take an existing brand, expand it, put your own spin on the best of the ideas, and work a business model that has been proven to be successful. Among the franchising opportunities in America today, few of them are as popular and youthful as that of the kid’s market. Toy stores and other franchises geared toward the younger set are quickly becoming one of the top franchise markets of today’s world. Perhaps it is because young businessmen are not so far removed being kids themselves that they can remember what children of all ages like to play with and what is likely to appeal to that set. Whatever the reason, the fact cannot be denied that the kid’s market is to be taken seriously by the wise businessman.
What makes the kid’s market so valuable in today’s business world is the fact that today, more than ever, kids are in control of their parents income. This was not true fifteen or twenty years ago. Americans spend more than 100 billion dollars a year for their children’s necessities, not to mention their entertainment. With this kind of money in the economy up for grabs, it’s no wonder the kids’ market is thriving. That number, according to many industry analysts, is only going to grow in the coming years, far ahead of the rate of inflation.
One of the reasons for this rapid growth in the industry could be the disappearance of the traditional one-working-parent family system. While this is decried by some family experts, the fact remains that many families are now home to two working parents, trying to juggle career ans children rather than doing one or the other. This leads to two things: more expendable income and less time with the children. This means children must fend for themselves when it comes to their entertainment many times, and this of course leads to greater amounts of spending in that area.
In addition to entertainment items, what cannot be ignored are the huge opportunities in the world of providing day care and extra-curricular activities for these young children. Combined with the need for necessities, it has created a wide open world of franchise possibilities. The market cannot be ignored by anyone wishing to enter an industry with unlimited growth potential. If you are someone who wants to go into business for yourself but aren’t sure what market to focus on, you could do worse than build something around the kids market. It’s not going anywhere, and it could provide you and your family with a wonderful income for years to come.

Top Work At Home Business Opportunities
December 10, 2007

http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hello there,
Depending on your experience and education there are many opportunities to begin your own home based business that can put your previous job responsibilities to work for you. Many times people find themselves suddenly out of a job due to downsizing or the closing of a business and even retirees occasionally want the get out of the house, but are reluctant to seek a job with another employer.
Some of the hottest markets today are in fitness and exercise programs and people who have spent years in training may qualify as a personal trainer. You may also look at becoming a yoga instructor if you have that type of experience as many schools are always on the lookout for qualified teachers. If dancing is your forte, consider offering weekly dance lessons at a local community centre to put your experience to good use.
Former managers and executives are finding having their own management consulting business can offer a good part-time income while sharing the experience gained through their years of experience. Finance, marketing and labour negotiating are a few of the fields that offer great opportunities. Management training on specialized aspects of management can also be used to form classes for businesses just getting started.
The medical field is wide open for many non-patient procedures, such as accounting, billing and transcription services. With those backgrounds it should be easy to have your own business offering them on a contract basis to doctors, hospitals and health clinics. If you are really experienced in transcription services many law offices use these services frequently and can’t afford a full-time person to perform this part-time job function.
One job possibility that requires no special education is one as a personal shopper. Many busy executives are too busy to run to the store for basic supplies and are willing to pay someone else to shop for them. The challenge with this type of service is being on call as well as remaining non-judgmental about their product choices. You may end up buying everything from food to clothing as well as personal items and possibly birthday cards for each spouse, but since they are paying for your service as well as the merchandise, it shouldn’t be your place to criticize.
If all of your friends and family count on you to help them with their computer issues, you might consider a home business as a computer consultant. Not the 24/7 computer help hotline, but if someone wants to add memory to their system or upgrade their software you can become the expert they call to get it done.
If you have a creative flair, you might think about designing gift baskets for all occasions.
Advertising your line of work can be bring a surprise number of clients who want something special in the way of a gift basket and if you can offer them total freedom as to the contents, you will become the person they call for their next idea.
My business opportunity or at least opportunities is what I do. How To Make Home Based Business A Success
December 10, 2007
Copyright © Christopher Baxter
http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hi there,
What type of business you operate from the home is totally up to you, but there are certain things that you will need to do to help insure its success. While visions of living large comes immediately to mind for many who choose to run their own home-based business, they often forget that it is a business. Running a home business often gives people the misunderstanding that they can dictate every part of their operation and while there are many aspects of a home business in which they are completely in charge, customers and clients will also have input on many functions.
The first thing needed to run a successful home business is a set schedule. It may be easy to stay up late to watch a movie and repeatedly hit the snooze button on your alarm clock, but when dealing with clients over the phone you really do not want them to think their early morning phone call rousted you from a sound sleep. While having a lot of free time may be appealing and taking naps in the middle of the day may be attractive, keeping regular hours is important to any business.
Make sure your office is only used as an office. In addition to the tax benefits of carving out a space used strictly for work, you will also have the feeling when you walk into the room in the morning that it is time to go to work. Similarly, when the day is over and you leave the office you need to feel as though you have gone home for the day. Just as you want to keep family distractions out of the office, you need to keep work distractions out of the rest of the house.
Being professional in all business dealings when in your home office will help preserve your image as a business owner. If you cannot afford a separate telephone line for the business, during your normal business hours answer the phone in a professional manner.
Unless your business is the field of dreams, simply building it will not guarantee customers will show up. Advertising and marketing is essential to any business, even those run exclusively online. Chances are there is no sign in front of your home that indicates you are open for business, inviting passers-by to stop in and see what you have to offer. The only way anyone knows you are there is through advertising.
Build a website, even if you will not be conducting any business online. It can serve as your web-based sales pamphlet and include information about you, your experience and your business. Including prominent contact information on the first page of your website is a key to obtaining more business, but you should also have a contact form available for people to simply send in a request for information or for answering questions.

Internet Marketing Tips
December 10, 2007
Copyright © Christopher Baxter
http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hi there,
Hope you enjoy this one.
Internet marketing is a fairly new area in the marketing field. Marketing websites is close to marketing for other products and services. If you are new in the Internet marketing field there are some tips to assist you. We are going to use this article to examine those aids.
It is advisable not to use additional products and services to increase your sales. Instead of increasing the quantity of products or services, you would do better to increase the variety of different marketing methods. By doing this, only a small part of the total business is affected if one product declines or a marketing response drops.
Be sure to remember that customers are also prospects. You need to stay in contact with them. Try to find or develop other products or services that they can use. Return customers are easier to make a sale to than new customers.
Avoid making exaggerated claims, even if they are true. Bold claims create doubt in potential customer’s minds and jeopardize sales. It is better to bring those bold claims down to believable levels. Numerical claims should be expressed as odd numbers with decimals or factions.
When developing offers for your business, create them in sets of four or five at a time. They should also have expiration dates. With expiration dates you can replace the expired one with a new offer and deadline. With a series of offers you can constantly recycle through them. It is also possible to create an irresistible offer by combining a discount price and a set of valuable bonuses in the same offer.
You may need to change your market if you are attracting prospects that don’t have or can’t get the money to buy your product or service. You should target prospects that have an intense desire for the benefits of your products or services. You also need to target those that can afford your products or services.
By offering an exclusive benefit to your customers, this benefit will help sales. The benefit should be something that your competitors can’t or won’t offer. A good example of this would be your personal cell phone or home phone numbers. A lot of business owner’s don’t want to be that accessible.
Advertising copy should be written like the message was written specifically for each reader. This type of copy seems to produce great responses. This can be accomplished by making the copy be written to just one person instead of a group of people. You also might want to write in a less formal, more personal style.
The majority of sales are not made on the first contact. You need to develop a method to capture and save names and contact information of prospects. By doing this you can follow up with them periodically. Sometimes a gentle coaching is all that is needed to make a sale.

The Reality Of Guaranteed Results
December 10, 2007
Copyright © Christopher Baxter
http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hi there, I’m playing catch-up a little, been saving my blogs for publication for some time… So anyway, here goes…
Thousands of emails and hundreds of free offers for getting into your own business flood internet mailboxes on a daily basis. Free trial offers that promise a full refund if the buyer is not completely satisfied with the first (insert number of days here). However, while a majority of these offers may be for a legitimate business opportunity, the concept has been spoiled by a few who don’t really want to get involved with issuing refunds. Chances are your money has been spent on another enterprise and until it takes off, the refund will be slow in coming.
Before filling out the send it now form with your personal information and credit card number, make sure you can find the contact information on the website. Don’t be fooled into believing that information will be available when you receive your download or welcome information pack. A person or company that hides behind an email address and gives offers no other way to get in touch with the company, is probably not going to be around long enough to issue a refund.
Most companies offering guaranteed results have many specifications you have to follow in order to achieve the success they promise. Their idea of part-time and full-time may not be the same as yours. Many times the work that has to be done will far exceed 40 hours per week. While many people understand that owning their own business will require a significant investment in time, 80 to 90 hours per week working on a proven plan for making money is not what they had in mind.
Also consider the investment you are being asked to make. Many companies not only want to sell you their technology included in their website, but will also want monthly fees for continuing to use their name. While many franchises charge for their name and reputation as well as training materials, supplies and other items used in the business, many online companies charge only for their name. The value of their brand is subjective, usually set by them, and you have nothing with which in can be compared.
Before investing any money, check with the Better Business Bureau both in your area as well as the area in which the company is located. There may also be internet blogs that talk about companies and their ability to swoon their customers into sending them money and getting nothing in return. Run their name through some search engines to see if they show up and search for the products they claim to sell. If they can’t be found online, chances are your page for their products will also be hidden from view. Without internet traffic your website will be meaningless.

The Most Popular Business Books
December 10, 2007

Hello there, Long time…
I, being an engineer, decided to upgrade the little laptop to Windows Vista. Well, as you may have noticed, the little delay. been fun and games, and not the fun kind…
But sorted out now. I do like Vista as I have used it for some time prior, just seems as though a few bugs in the installation. Although, maybe the faulty RAM had something to do with it.
Better now and back on topic shall we?
Currently in your local bookstore are a number of newly released books that can provide rich insight and glorious financial understanding of a variety of hot business topics. From the stock market to the supermarket, these books have hit a vein in the American public by enlightening them to subjects that heretofore seemed elusive and confounding. Here are a few of these successful books, and a little bit about why you might want to pick them up when you have a little extra money.
Mobs, Messiahs, and Markets by William Bonner is a look at societal groupthink and why it’s so important to forge your own path when it comes to investing in the stock market. Taking a rather bold and unusual stance against such “safe” investments as mutual funds, Bonner and his coauthor take a look at mass thinking and why it so seldom resembles sound investment strategy.
Results That Last: Hardwiring Behaviors That Will Take Your Company to the Top by Quint Studer will be released sometime in October and promises an interesting look at what makes a business successful in the long run. Studer argues that a businesses success has little to do with products or service and everything to do with positive and exciting leadership. While a good product or innovative service may be the ticket to the top for a short while, it is Studer’s intention to demonstrate that the companies that last the longest and stay at the top do so through strong management and his book provides proven leadership strategies.
Your Portable Empire: How to Make Money Anywhere While Doing What You Love by Pat O’Bryan is a tome dedicated to showing the average everyman how to create an online business that requires little day to day work to produce a flow of passive income. Without reading the book, it seems to be mostly geared toward the production of a website and the sales of informational e-books, and the salesmanship and strategies toward making these e-book websites a success.
The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss is a fascinating book by a Princeton lecturer who has found and put to use a number of secrets for living in the now, and not waiting for retirement to enjoy relaxation. Its strategies include how to retrain your supervisors into putting a higher value on results and production than actual presence, and how to trade a fulltime career for several short “work bursts” sprinkled with mini-retirements. A must have for those tired of living for the clock.
These are just a handful of the interesting books at the top of the bestseller’s lists. There are many more for those patient enough to peruse the stacks, read the reviews, and avoid judging a book by its cover. Read, and be filled up with knowledge.

The Disadvantages of Online Business
November 28, 2007
Copyright © Christopher Baxter
http://www.Stunning-Options.com
Hello again,
One of the topics that is often discussed on forums and message boards around the internet is the topic of online business. A number of people will tell you exactly what they think about online business and to people that have been successful in it, the majority of what they say is positive. This is because there is a bias in the positive direction when it comes to online business because many of the people in online business sell products specifically about how to make money online. Therefore, there is an inherent conflict of interest in the things they tell you. One topic not often considered is the topic of how it might be disadvantageous to get involved in online business. There are definite disadvantages to online business and some of them are discussed below.
Firstly, there is the distraction factor. Online business usually entails working from home and therefore you can find any distraction at home in order to take you away from working on your online business. The television, the stovetop, the microwave, the bed and the backyard are all distractions that can result in people getting dropped from online business and losing their sense of concentration. Concentration is key in online business and ultimately it is going to be what drives people forward to succeed. For those of you, like me, that have ADD, staying focused becomes somewhat more of a challenge, and a challenge that needs to be overcome. A little Joke I heard from Steven Wright… “My nephew has HD-ADD, High Definition – Attention Deficit Disorder. He can barely pay attention, but when he does, it’s unbelievably clear.” Ok… Focus here Christopher, focus.
However, the offline distractions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to online business. Because a lot of online business work is tedious and boring, it is easy to get distracted. Have you ever heard people playing online games in the workplace because their job is boring at times? Well, consider how that could easily be you if you are working at an online business. You’d be sunk before you even started and that is not going to be good for anyone; least of all you.
In addition to distraction, there is also the competitive nature of online business. If you want to get involved in a particular niche, chances are there are already going to be people there ahead of you. And with the internet, larger people can crush smaller people a lot easier than big businesses can crush small ones. Competitors think nothing of discrediting each other and ultimately everyone is only interested in selling their products and making money. It is a cut-throat world on the internet and people that aren’t aware of this could get crushed so fast it would make their head spin.
So, as you can see, there are a number of disadvantages to online business. This is not to say that it cannot be lucrative; far from it in fact. The internet gives you a great chance to reach people you would never have been able to reach otherwise and it is primarily for that reason that you need to be aware of all of the disadvantages inherent to online business; to understand both the good and the bad.
